Essential nutrient for sugar in fruits
After the main three nutrients plants require for growth, the most important is magnesium. It is an essential part of the photosynthesis process and is important for feed uptake into the plant. However, what many home gardeners don’t know is that to professional growers, magnesium is known as the ‘sugar nutrient’ in that it is vital to plant carbohydrate (sugar) synthesis.
Professional growers always make sure they have lots of magnesium available to their tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, berries and tree fruits as they know their plants need it to build the amazing juicy sweet fruit we like to eat. It is a very mobile nutrient in the plant so it can be applied to the roots or sprayed onto leaves.
Gro-Expert Bio Magnesium is the ultimate source of liquid magnesium. Using the best form of magnesium plants can use (Epsom salts) Gro-Expert Bio Magnesium is supported by an organic package of plant extracts to ensure the plants make the best use of this vital sugar nutrient.
Gro-Expert Bio Magnesium is available in 500ml dual chambered bottles for ease of measurement and should be used in every feed at 5mls per 10litre of water applied to the roots of plants.
Always apply alongside the Gro-Expert Professional Feeds for best results.
How to use Bio Magnesium
For liquid feeding - Add 5ml of Bio Magnesium to 10L of water. Apply with every watering from when the plants have developed flowers or at the first signs of deficiency (yellowing on lower plant leaves). For best results apply alongside Gro-Expert Professional Feeds.
This nutrient is one of the most important for all plants and especially fruit, vegetable, and flower plants as it is essential for photosynthesis and the creation of plant sugars.
10L is equivalent to a 2 gallon watering can. For 1 gallon can, please use half rate. Shake well before use.
Top Tip
For greenhouse vegetable fruits such as tomatoes it is essential for amazing fruits to keep leaves on the plants. In mature plants this needs to be at least ¾ of the length of the stem. Many home growers often see yellowing between the veins of leaves on the lower parts of the plant and think the leaf is growing old and needs be removed; in fact, we see many videos and websites supporting this. This is not correct; it is actually the plant showing us it needs more magnesium. As the fruits swell, they require more magnesium for building sugars and as magnesium is a mobile nutrient in plants, the plant moves it from older leaves to where it is needed. If you keep magnesium levels topped up, you will not see it and your fruit will taste superb.
